Best Practice: How to Test Event Configuration

Before making an event available to the public, you should thoroughly test the registration process to ensure that it is set up correctly. Testing allows you to identify and fix configuration issues, confusing procedures, and content errors so that visitors to your site will have a seamless and professional registration experience.

Always test events completely before going live

After you test an event and correct any issues, we strongly recommend that another member of your organization look at the event as well. A person with no prior knowledge about the event configuration will approach the registration like a typical visitor, and can identify problems that you may not have considered.

In general, testing event configuration requires completing the registration process several times both as a regular visitor to the web site and as an administrator. You should go through the registration process as many times as necessary to answer the following questions:

  • If I enter or select correct information that meets the event’s requirements, does the registration work as expected?
  • If I enter or select incorrect information or information that doesn’t meet the event’s requirements, do I see the right error messages and have the opportunity to correct my errors?

Support: Help Requests for Time-Sensitive Events

If you need help because your organization is approaching an internal deadline to open registrations for events, camps or programs, please include the launch date in your support request so we can prioritize your ticket and help ensure you meet your go-live date.

In addition, we are happy to review any event you configure to ensure that it meets your needs and that it is easy for your constituents to use. Please give us at least five business days of lead time to schedule the review.
